International Fly Tying Symposium 2011
Posted by Greg on 11/14/2011
Just like the other Symposiums, this one didn't dissapoint.
It was real nice seeing the Swedish tyers. They were some of the most polite people I've ever met. And Maaan can they tie flies. Great talent!!
We were also lucky enough to have Mark Hamnett (the new owner of Partridge) fly from the UK, to sell his phenominal hooks from our booth. What a great guy. And an honor for us. We are now carrying the Partridge Line of hooks, many in stock now, and more to come. (mark on the right, Steve Silverio on the left)
The word around the camp was, that saturday was not too bad as far as crouds went, although we felt real busy in our booths. And sunday was the best day to get more one on one with the tyers. The overall tone for the show was very positive, and I didn't hear a complaint all day.
We had plenty of intrest in what Jonny King, Dave Nelson, Joe Cordiero, and Steve Silverio were tying. They never fail to impress, great bunch of guys, Pure Class, and I felt honored to have them in my booths. (Joe with his usual crowd)
Steve Silverio wowed everyone with his fantastic colorful streamer patterns, as usual.
Jonny King, and Dave Nelson have to be some of the most imaginative tyers out there, and they proved that again this year, with thier mechanicly sound flies, everything is done for a reason, and has a particular fuction on the performance of the fly in the water.
Great Teachers too.
Some of Joe's famous Flatwing Flies...
A glimps at the booth before the madness started on Saturday morning. Notice all of Dave's wine by the register, managed to finish that by the end of the show (happy Booth).
The Motly Crew Sunday morning....
It was a great show, and thank you to all of the customers that stopped by and said hi. Our customers allow me to continue doing what I love, and I'm thankful to have great customers and friends. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving Holiday, and I look forward to seeing you at the next show.
